We present here just a few examples of our most recent projects, to show the diversity of our clients and partners, and of the projects we do with them. We provide world-class consulting services in the field of Engineering, Risk Management for offshore and onshore oil and gas upstream, midstream and downstream industries. We focus to provide quality services at affordable cost to meet customer requirements and always work to exceed customer expectation.
Toxic Release Modelling for SAPPI
SCG performed dispersion calculations for a paper mill located in South Africa. These dispersion calculations used process data and local weather conditions to model the concentrations of releases from the vent stack. Sensitivity runs were also performed to show how changing parameters affected the dispersion. Ground level concentrations of several toxic chemicals were predicted, and contour maps were generated based on toxic exposure levels and odor thresholds. Recommendations were then made reduce the ground level concentrations which were then communicated to SAPPI.
CAD Drafting Services
SCG provides ongoing support in the updates to drawing files based on company MOCs. An SCG representative coordinates the updates to the drawings with our partner company, iFluids, in India. Drawing updates are performed and checked over by an SCG professional before being returned to the client for final approval.
Environmental Impact Assessment for New Rotary Kiln
SCG performed an EIA for a new piece of fired equipment for Boom Waste Management. Assessments to the site based on the addition of the kiln were performed by SCG staff including ambient air modelling, waste management and groundwater contamination.
Loss Prevention Consulting with Parsons Marpol
SCG completed numerous loss prevention tasks for Parsons Marpol including the development of Fire and Gas Cause and Effect Diagrams, the Fire & Safety Philosophy, and Firewater demand calculations. SCG also facilitated HAZOP and HAZID workshops, developed layout drawings, and reviewed the HSE register.
PHA Program Development
SCG worked with Alcoa to develop their worldwide PHA program. This program included the implementation of LOPA covering all mining, refining, and smelting operations.
Quantitative Risk Assessment for Mina Petroleum
SCG performed a quantitative risk assessment for a Mina Petroeum storage terminal housing jet fuel and fuel naval distillate using PHAST software. In this QRA, best available industry data was used to calculate risk and recommendations were issued to reduce the likelihood and severity of the potential incidents.
Hazardous Area Classification for HEXCEL Casa Grande Facility
SCG assessed and documented process areas in the Casa Grande HEXCEL facility. These areas included resin mixing rooms where chemical reactions, ventilation systems, and personnel activity were taken into account.
20 Element OSHA PSM Audit for JPRC
SCG Reviewed PSM practices and applicable documentation on site and provided recommendations to achieve full compliance with the OSHA PSM system.
PSV Calculations for Silver Eagle Refining Woods Cross Facility
SCG documented process information, vendor data, and other supporting information for relief valves located in several refinery areas. This data provided the basis for relief valve sizing calculations. Final documentation included required relief valve capacity, type, and size. Documentation also included inlet and outlet line pressure drops.
HAZOP Services for Onshore and Offshore Facilities
SCG provided workshop facilitators the North Field LNG Expansion project. Work included HAZOP workshop facilitation and SIL Assignment for both offshore units as well as onshore facilities.
Incident investigation and Expert Witness for Tanker Truck Explosion
SCG provided incident investigation services for a confidential client after two truckers were injured in a blast overpressure event. Based on interviews, physical evidence, and data logged by the computer systems, SCG developed a timeline leading up to the explosion, identified the most likely root cause, and analyzed contributing factors. SCG then provided expert witness services involving the development of a non-technical report to supplement the report created during the incident investigation.
